Recycling makes economic sense
According to a 50-page report (PDF), the recycling industry has reached annual sales of $236 billion, just shy of the struggling auto industry’s sales in 2009. The report also stated that the costs of recycling materials were less than the cost of new production, energy savings were a catalyst for increased recycling rates, and emerging markets depend on recycled materials.
Data visualization will save the world (or at least some money)
Open Forum wonders whether data visualization is the next big thing for green tech businesses, outlining the importance of keeping personal energy use data at the forefront of consumers’ minds and highlighting some of the different monitoring methods currently available. However, we think they may have left out a really good one from their list.
Transformer furniture
When it comes to the space-saving Rubix furniture set, any similarity to the name of a certain puzzle cube is incidental, even though the furniture also twists and folds. Great for a small studio space or even just a space-saving eco-enthusiast, the set can double as a living room lounge and a dining room set.
