Yahoo!’s green data center

Search giant Yahoo! is opening a green data center in upstate New York this month that will use 40 percent less energy to store information. It will be kept cool by outside air instead of a water chiller and will be powered by hydroelectric energy.

Reduce, reuse, re…sell?

Earlier this year, eBay’s Green Team held its annual Innovation Expo with the purpose of finding ways to make the auction website’s business and community more eco-friendly. The winning idea this year was a simple, sturdy, reusable and recyclable “Green Box” for eBay sellers and buyers to ship their goods to each other!

Plastic bag tax

According to reports, Washington, D.C.’s bag tax, enacted earlier this year, has reduced the number of plastic bags the District consumes by 60 percent! Although the environmentally harmful bags have not yet been banned nationwide, the results in the Capital show that, given an incentive, consumers will go greener.
