Shoppers increasingly value brand greenness; rank Microsoft in top 10

eco-friendly-shopping In the past two years, environmental consciousness shot up from the 9th to 4th most important aspect of a company from the consumer perspective, according to a recent study. (The top three most important corporate priorities are “good value,” “trustworthy,” and “caring about customers.”) Survey respondents also ranked the top 10 green brands in the U.S., with Microsoft making the list for the first time. Makes sense, with energy use being the biggest green issue in the U.S. right now, and Hohm addressing that concern by helping people monitor and reduce their energy use!

"One of the interesting trends we're seeing this year is the consumer recognition of...'helper brands,' which provide useful information to consumers," said Annie Longsworth of Cohn & Wolfe (one of the agencies conducting the survey) in a June 8 press release. "While preference for brands that are 'in me, on me, around me' is still prevalent, consumers also value brands that make going green easier for them through online tools, tips and other forms of engagement through communication" (emphasis mine). That’s exactly what Hohm aims to do: help you understand where your energy dollars are going, and give you tools and tips to save money and the planet!

For more about how consumers are prioritizing sustainability, watch the interview with Annie—she gives Hohm a shout-out about a minute into the second video!
